The Oviedo arts committee voted to table sculpture scoring and extend the application deadline after members concluded the panel needed more submissions and time to recruit qualified sculptors.
Staff reported just one sculpture submission so far and proposed tabling the sculpture evaluation until the mural rubric has been tested with mural submissions. A committee member moved to table the sculpture rating until the next meeting; the motion carried on a voice vote.
Committee members then voted to extend the sculpture application window by 30 days to February 4 to allow staff time for targeted outreach to sculpture‑capable artists and organizations. Members discussed outreach strategies including contacting UCF, United Arts and local museums to increase visibility for the call.
The committee directed staff to share the application link with members so they can help recruit potential applicants and said staff will push the extension announcement through partner channels. The new deadline will be applied to intake and the sculpture call will remain open until Feb. 4.
