Commissioners honor retiring juvenile-probation officer and recognize volunteers and first responders

DENTON — The Denton County Commissioners Court used part of its Nov. 18 meeting to recognize long-serving staff and volunteer efforts.
The court approved a resolution honoring Kevin Mullis for 24 years with the Denton County Juvenile Probation Department; Mullis thanked colleagues, reflected on his career and said he planned to spend time with family and continue community service in retirement.
The court also issued a county proclamation to ASEZ/ACES (Save the Earth A to Z) for volunteer cleanups and civic engagement work and a proclamation recognizing Justin Marriott and Matthew Sapp of the City of the Colony Fire Department for their search-and-rescue work during the Hill Country flood. Commissioners praised the widespread, multiagency response to the disaster and approved the proclamations unanimously.
Court members invited department staff to join the retiree for a group photo and noted that such resolutions often highlight the county's "family" atmosphere across departments.
