The Town of Zionsville presented a mayoral proclamation naming December 2025 “David Franz Day” in recognition of Franz’s long service on the planning commission.
Mayor John Stair read the proclamation, noting Franz’s appointment by the town council in 2012 and service as planning commission president since 2016. Stair said the town “urges all residents to join me in celebrating and honoring David for his meaningful accomplishments and generous contributions to the betterment of our town.” The proclamation also included a Main Street brick as a commemorative gift.
Franz, who spoke briefly, called the work rewarding and emphasized the role of engaged citizens: “People care about the town,” he said, and urged future volunteers to stay involved. Commissioners and staff thanked Franz for his decades of service during the meeting.
The presentation was ceremonial; no formal action was required. The commission then proceeded to regular business.
