County renews social-services agreements with CCA, PD Place and SPAN

DENTON — The Denton County Commissioners Court on Nov. 18 approved three social-services agreements for the 2025–26 fiscal year with Christian Community Action (CCA), PD Place and SPAN.
Representatives from the three nonprofit partners told the court the county funds support counseling, career services and basic needs programs that keep residents healthy and connected. PD Place said it provides primary pediatric care to just under 6,000 children across North Texas, about 90% of whom live in Denton County, and that staff are seeing higher-acuity patients and growing mental-health needs.
"Our data shows that just under a third of the patients that we see come from families that report food insecurity," the PD Place representative told commissioners, noting the partnership with other local organizations that provide nutrition and food services.
SPAN described its Meals on Wheels program, which serves homebound seniors Monday through Friday and provides a daily hot meal and volunteer visit; SPAN said its services have expanded as county demand grows.
Commissioners praised the nonprofits' work and approved the agreements by unanimous vote. County leaders encouraged residents to support local nonprofit programs during the holiday season.
The agreements were presented as part of the county's social-services portfolio; commissioners said they will continue to monitor program outcomes through standard reporting channels.
