Dennis‑Yarmouth honors girls varsity field hockey after Division 4 state title

The Dennis‑Yarmouth Regional School Committee on Dec. 1 honored the district's varsity girls field hockey team following their 2025 MIAA Division 4 state championship.
Coach Malcajian, who introduced the roster and described the playoff run, recounted home victories over Kingsbury (6‑0) and Ipswich (4‑0), an overtime semifinal win over Cohasset and a 2‑1 victory in the final against Frontier Regional. "With 2 minutes and 18 seconds left, Elaine Emanuel scored the winning goal," Malcajian said, recalling the clinching moment.
The coach noted 17 players were on the honor or high‑honor roll and praised community support, including escorts by local police and fire personnel at key games. The committee presented each player with a certificate of excellence and thanked coaches Leslie LaFrance, Kathy Malkajian and Carly Kucha.
The recognition occurred during the opening portion of the committee meeting; the chair and superintendent thanked the team for representing the district.
The committee moved on to its regular agenda after the presentation.
