Council unanimously approves tentative POAM collective bargaining agreement through 12/31/2027

After a closed-session negotiation update, the Ypsilanti City Council voted unanimously Dec. 18 to approve a tentative collective bargaining agreement with POAM (the city’s bargaining unit referenced in the meeting), covering Jan. 1, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2027.
Council member Simmons moved the resolution to approve the agreement as presented and authorized the mayor, city manager and city clerk to execute the agreement once the city attorney approves it as to form. "There will be no discussion as we did that in closed session," the mayor said before the roll-call vote. The Clerk recorded unanimous approval on the vote.
The resolution and motion reflect the result of closed-session bargaining under MCL 15.268(c) and the council’s action to authorize execution of the tentative agreement. Staff indicated the contract will be signed after the city attorney reviews it for form and completeness.
