"I, Tom Tepe, of the [Village of Terrace Park], do hereby proclaim February 2025 as congenital heart defect awareness week," the mayor said as he presented the proclamation for the village archives.
The document described congenital heart defects as a lifelong condition requiring specialized care and encouraged clinicians, pediatricians and the public to increase understanding and support for affected families. Family members present thanked the council for the recognition; a family representative said the acknowledgment "means a great deal to us and to all the other kids like Addie."
The proclamation will be kept in the village records. No formal motion or vote was required beyond acceptance and archiving of the proclamation at the meeting.
The council continued with regular business after the recognition.
