Commission pulls Florence Singer parcel off market while Brownfield review proceeds

Rutherford County commissioners moved to take the Florence Singer parcel off the market pending completion of plat work and a Brownfield environmental review.
Commissioner Harris presented options for county use — a single-stream recycling MRF, a TCAT training site, or other future county needs — and noted the state Brownfield grant process could change development options and the property’s market value. Committee members said the parcel had been listed as multiple parcels by the Chamber of Commerce and that a consolidated plat is still in process.
After discussion — during which several commissioners said they wanted additional information, including an appraisal and plat consolidation — Commissioner Johnson made a motion to take the property off the market; the motion was seconded and passed by roll call.
Staff was asked to notify the Chamber and to prepare the plat and environmental materials for further review. Commissioners said removing the parcel from open marketing preserves flexibility while staff completes analysis.
