The Property Management Committee voted to forward a 10-year lease for the Kittrell ballfield property to the full commission after the county attorney said a nonprofit plans to create a community center and green space on the site.
The county attorney described the parcel on Old Woodbury Pike, near the Kittrell Public Safety Building, and said there are two older ballfields and two buildings on the property—one currently vacant and the other used by the fire department for training. "This is a non profit company. They want to have a community center out there, some green space," the attorney said. He presented a lease of 10 years at $1 per year, subject to a possible 10-year renewal, and noted the building used by the fire department is excluded from the lease.
The county attorney recommended the committee send the lease to the full commission for approval. A committee member moved to approve and a second was recorded; the committee approved the motion by roll call with unanimous 'yes' votes.
The committee voted to forward the lease; staff will place the item on the commission agenda for final approval.
