The committee heard a proposal to authorize a memorandum of agreement allowing the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to place and maintain signage and striping for Cumberland Trail crossings at county thoroughfares.
Planning/roads staff said the state agency approached the county seeking permission to cross county roadways with trail alignments and that the memorandum would give the county mayor authority to sign agreements allowing the installations. Staff described the signage and striping as part of the trail crossing work and said the changes should ‘‘look really nice.’’ No opposition at the planning commission was reported and the resolution (1225-23) was deferred for formal action at a future meeting.
The committee did not take a formal vote on the memorandum at the meeting.
