Todd (staff) said the proposal calls for two 10,000-gallon above-ground tanks at Cromwell and argued the location would be more efficient for daily operations and for inclement weather. Todd said the county has been transitioning operations from Stanford Gap to Cromwell and that, over the last decade, the county has abandoned many underground storage tanks; if the sheriff's operational needs at Stanford Gap permit, staff would pursue abandoning the remaining USTs there.
Resolution 1225-18 would accept the SPACCO Energy Solutions proposal and authorize the county mayor to sign contracts for a total project amount not to exceed $677,743. Commissioners asked about sheriff access to Stanford Gap fueling; staff said the sheriff could continue to use the Stanford Gap facility via p-cards until any abandonment occurred. The committee deferred the item for formal action at a later meeting.
