Planning & Zoning chair John Gaskin told the Village of Terrace Park council that the zoning commission reviewed proposed amendments to the zoning code related to adult-use cannabis and vape shops and the council was ready to hear the second reading of Ordinance 8-1-2025.
Gaskin said the ordinance would amend several sections of the Terrace Park zoning ordinance to address the sale and cultivation of adult-use cannabis and include a definition for vape shops so the village can better regulate such businesses. He noted a public hearing took place at the prior meeting and that the proposed changes effectively codify prohibitions and definitions that reflect the village’s community standards.
The chair framed the reading as procedural: the planning commission had reviewed the language, the public had an opportunity to speak previously, and the council would consider further action per the ordinance-reading schedule.
Next steps: council may schedule subsequent readings or a vote per the village’s ordinance-adoption procedures.
