The finance committee heard staff explain a grant-funded plan to purchase electric vehicles and associated equipment for county use.
Staff said the grant is being administered by Development Services and that Fleet Management will assign the vehicles within county departments. The resolution (1225-19) cites up to $1,356,960 for electric vehicles and up to $110,715.20 for ‘‘other equipment.’’ Janeway (Development Services) introduced the item; Gerald of Fleet Management confirmed the grants ‘‘have been verified’’ and that the county had received no notice the grants were canceled.
When asked what the ‘‘other equipment’’ entailed, staff said it included infrastructure such as charging stations. Commissioners asked whether federal or state individual rebates had been affected by recent federal changes; staff distinguished those individual rebates from grant funding for local government fleets and said the two programs are different.
No formal vote was taken; the committee deferred the matter for formal action at a later meeting.
