The Mooresville Police Commission voted to hire Tyler McDonough as a full-time police officer on Dec. 11, 2025. The commission approved the appointment 2-0 after an executive-session interview earlier in the day.
The chief told the commission McDonough currently works full time with the Brown Township Fire Department and serves as a reserve with the Morrisville Police Department. "He'd be a good fit for the department," the chief said, adding McDonough had completed the department's required steps. Commissioner identified in the transcript as "Speaker 1" moved to approve the hire and "Speaker 2" seconded; both voted "Aye." The chief said McDonough must give his fire department two weeks' notice before a later swearing-in date is set.
The hiring motion passed with no recorded dissents. The commission did not specify an exact start date; the chief said he would notify the commission when a swearing-in date is scheduled.
