Village manager outlines grants, road and event projects, says fire department added transport services

At the Village of Woodlawn's Feb. 25 council meeting, the municipal manager reviewed capital projects, grants and community events the village expects to advance this year.
The manager said the village received a Hamilton County revitalization grant valued at just over $279,000 to build a new parking lot on Taconic; engineers are drafting plans and the project is expected to be bid and completed this year. The village also received a $50,000 Hamilton County façade grant and budgeted an additional $15,000 in capital funds to match that award. The manager said letters and application materials for the façade program would go to businesses the week of Feb. 24.
Infrastructure updates included Springfield Pike and Grundage improvements (bid awarded to Atlanta Construction, per manager) and planning work for Wayne Avenue and Glendale Milford sidewalk improvements. The manager said the village will coordinate utility work on Leacrest Road with neighboring utility providers and with a nearby subdivision proposed by Springfield Township to avoid cutting into newly improved pavement.
On emergency services, the manager said the fire department began providing non-emergency medical-transport services after receiving the appropriate state license; the manager stated that this licensure makes the village unique among Ohio municipalities but did not provide documentary proof during the meeting.
The manager also highlighted community events: Black Wall Street, held Feb. 20, drew more than 500 attendees; the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra is scheduled for a free performance on Aug. 1 at the village green; and the 513 relief bus will visit the recreation center Feb. 27 to offer health screenings and social services.
Next steps: the manager indicated engineers will prepare bid-ready plans for the grant-funded parking lot and the municipal staff will distribute façade-grant application materials to businesses.
