Woodlawn council passes resolutions condemning hate-group rhetoric, approves sidewalk contract and summer-camp agreement

Council adopted Resolution 04-2025, which the law director read in full and which states the village "unequivocally condemns the ideology, unlawful actions, and rhetoric of all hate groups." The resolution passed on a roll-call vote with the following members recorded as voting aye: Esther Boyd; Rosemary Brown; Cindy Chandler; Pamela Fitzgerald; Robert Lawson; and Michelle Starr.
Council next approved Resolution 05-2025, authorizing the municipal manager to enter a contract with the low bidder for the Grenninger Way and Springfield Pike sidewalk project. The law director identified the low bid as $1,030,356; council approved the resolution on a roll-call vote with all present members voting aye.
Finally, the council voted to authorize a facility-usage agreement with Vacation Kids Camp LLC to operate a summer camp at the village recreation center under Resolution 06-2025. During roll call on that item, Cindy Chandler announced she would vote no, saying she did not agree with the terms of the agreement and the attached memorandum of understanding; the other recorded members voted aye and the resolution passed.
The law director had summarized the night's legislation in advance and noted the sidewalk contract was competitively bid and recommended for authorization. The council took the three final votes during the legislative portion of the meeting and then adjourned.
What happens next: the municipal manager is authorized to execute the approved contracts and agreements; council did not specify additional contingencies or follow-up reporting timelines on the record.
