The council then voted unanimously to direct staff to bring back a balanced budget or a detailed explanation of efforts to achieve balance. "I want a balanced budget," the motion's sponsor said; the motion passed 5–0.
Why it matters: council members framed the CCPA as an economic driver because events attract visitors and spending at nearby businesses. At the same time, the council acknowledged other city facilities and library operations also show significant budgetary deltas and asked staff to provide clarity to residents about relative costs and benefits.
