Multiple members of the public used the citizens' comment period to press the board on personnel and policy concerns.
Michael Dyer, a Granby High School teacher, told the board he has repeatedly raised pay inequity for NJROTC instructors and urged the board to act on promises made to those staff. "I urge the board to stand up and do what is right," Dyer said, saying the issue has gone unresolved for more than a year and a half.
Morgan Crowder described a transportation hardship affecting her 6‑year‑old son with ADHD: although a school bus passes the babysitter's address daily, her son is barred from riding because the family's home is within one mile of the school and she said administrative procedures are inflexible. She asked the board to consider a policy change to allow safe access for working families without added route resources.
Other commenters included community partners and student leaders from Ruffner who urged the board to choose a superintendent who listens to students, and civic speakers who criticized the board's internal dynamics and sought greater transparency in the superintendent search. Several educators and speakers said associate teachers had been treated unfairly after contract changes and urged the board to ensure supports and clear timelines for new teachers.
The board did not take immediate policy votes in response to these comments but heard requests for follow‑up on promised raises, transportation policy interpretation, and associate‑teacher supports.
