The Mississippi State Board of Education approved a contract and multiple grant awards during its Nov. 20 meeting.
Miss Wiggins presented one contract recommended for award to Civic Solutions Group to provide support for school-based administrative claiming and a nurses database software platform. The board moved and approved the contract by voice vote.
Staff also presented two 21st Century Community Learning Centers items: competitive awards for Cohort 9 of the Anita M. Lowry 21st CCLC program and a set of renewal awards. The Cohort 9 awards cover four-year grants with a combined total of $23,900,000 across 15 public and private entities. The renewal cohort covers six public/private entities with four-year renewals totaling $4,500,000. The board approved both grant items after presentation and standard motions.
Board members asked no substantive questions during the motions and the items were approved as presented.
Next steps: contract documents will be executed by the department and grant recipients will be notified; staff will follow standard grant monitoring and reporting procedures.
