Board spotlights East High drama production and two-time state swim champion

The Williamsville Central School District Board used part of its Dec. 9 meeting to recognize student achievements in the arts and athletics.
East High School’s drama advisor Lisa Lovallo and principal Jason Swenson introduced student cast and crew from the fall play Radium Girls and thanked the board and district administration for support of the arts. Students and staff described the production as a historical retelling of workers exposed to radium; multiple seniors and advisers were acknowledged.
The board also honored Williamsville East swimmer Lauren Golden, who claimed state titles in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle. Coach Chris Miller and Athletic Director Melissa Spada joined Golden at the podium; speakers noted she set school and sectional records and is headed to college competition next year. The board and superintendent praised the students, coaches and volunteers for their accomplishments and community contributions.
