Representatives from the Wyoming Art Show briefed the council on a proposed mural project for Woodlawn during the May 27 meeting.
Judy Carter, project manager for the Wyoming Art Show, said the artist (working through ArtWorks) plans a community-focused design emphasizing family, children and nature, with visual references to Harmony Park and Glenwood Gardens. The concept uses the phrase "Love lives here" to reflect Woodlawn and neighboring communities in ZIP code 45215. Carter said the artist prefers to begin when temperatures reach about 65°F so materials will cure properly and indicated a target start date of Sept. 1, though she noted that scheduling and approvals could shift the timeline.
Council members asked about community input and funding. Carter said she provided the artist with local images and a history packet (including a 'Monopoly board' of village facts) and has been working with village leaders and building owners for permits and easements. The Art Show aims to partner with the village on funding and has been fundraising; council members expressed appreciation for the artist’s willingness to accept local feedback.
Council asked staff to continue coordination with the artist and to advance necessary permits and easement discussions; the project team said they will return with final designs and schedule updates.
