Woodlawn municipal manager outlines summer events, grants and road projects

Woodlawn — Municipal Manager Tim briefed the Village of Woodlawn council on planned summer events, ongoing infrastructure projects and recent grant awards.
Tim said staff are finalizing plans for Juneteenth (June 19) and a Village 5K (June 14), including volunteer sign-ups, road-closure signage and barricades coordinated with the City of Blue Ash so the village would not need to rent equipment. The manager reported approval to use the Glenwood Gardens overflow lot for run events and said the Woodlawn concert series will run July 3 and feature multiple performances, with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra scheduled for Aug. 1.
On infrastructure, Tim said sidewalk work on Springfield Pike and Grueniger is under way and near completion of the Retna Terrace and Chester Road project is expected by May, with some remaining electrical and lane-painting work. Marion Road work has grant and interest-free loan support and the village also applied for municipal road-fund money for that project. Tim said the regional safety complex is on schedule and the pedestrian bridge work — including new electrical outlets for event lighting — should finish within two weeks.
Tim also detailed partnerships. Neighborhood Allies will hold an outreach event in Woodlawn on May 9 to help residents with government services. The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), NAACP housing committee and other nonprofits will run homeowner outreach on Aug. 2. Tim told council the village received a $50,000 Hamilton County façade-improvement grant and the village added $15,000 for a $65,000 total pool to help local businesses improve storefronts.
Tim closed by announcing the village received a Tree City award and saying the administration will post photos and web content from recent community events. He asked residents to participate in upcoming activities and volunteer sign-ups.
