Board approves option to purchase 320 Dawson Lane NW contingent on successful facilities funding campaign

The New Philadelphia City Board approved an option to purchase 320 Dawson Lane NW on Dec. 9, contingent on a successful facilities funding campaign, after Treasurer Julie explained the property abuts 312 Dawson Lane, which required asbestos abatement.

Julie said the two properties share a single garage that crosses the property line; purchasing 320 Dawson would allow the district to remove the garage if needed and leave the district "held harmless" for any related work. She emphasized that the option does not obligate the district to purchase the property, only that it preserves the right to buy if the board later approves doing so and if funding becomes available through a future facilities campaign.

The board moved, seconded and approved the option by roll call; the transcript records affirmative votes from the members present. No purchase price beyond the option terms was read into the record during the meeting.
