Superintendent previews 2026 park projects: courts, ballfields, signage and playground work

Malone praised staff for support on seasonal events — including work done for the recent Light Up the City downtown event — and said the department has secured quotes for playground mulch and is budgeting for sign replacements in 2026. He noted that community development staff will assist with the West Side Park court project and that the YMCA contract and security plan will be brought to the board for review.
Board members asked about timelines and requested that proposed contracts be presented to the full board for review before approval. Malone said the department will present each contract to the board and that several vendor contracts should come before the board for consideration in the coming months.
