Planning commission forwards amended Wakefield Valley development plan to Mayor and Common Council

The Planning & Zoning Commission considered an amended development‑plan recommendation for Wakefield Valley and voted to forward the amended packet to the Mayor and Common Council with one editorial correction.

A commissioner identified a typographical error in the draft findings and moved to strike the extraneous phrase so the sentence would read correctly. The amendment motion was seconded and passed. After further discussion about community benefits — including trail improvements, parkland flexibility and renovation of the clubhouse and associated properties — the commission voted to approve the amended recommendation for transmittal to the Mayor and Common Council.

Commissioners emphasized the plan’s perceived benefits for trails and parkland and asked staff to coordinate advertisement and public‑notice timing for the council hearing so commissioners and other stakeholders can attend that meeting.

Next step: staff will schedule the Mayor and Common Council hearing (anticipated in January or February) and circulate the recommendation letter.
