The Mt. Healthy City Council approved a $9,000 contract to extend private fences and install a gate at the end of Maple Avenue.
City Manager Scott and council members said the $9,000 bid covers fence installation from private property line to private property line and includes a wooden section to match an existing neighbor’s fence and a galvanized chain-link section on the other side; height will be 6 feet. The manager noted the city would perform some demo work and trim trees as needed.
Mister Parsons moved to approve the request; Mister Redding seconded. Council approved the motion by voice vote. One council member cautioned the action is precedent-setting because it extends fencing onto or adjacent to private property and said the city should avoid making the practice routine.
Council directed staff to provide residents with information that the installed fence will become the homeowners’ responsibility for maintenance and repair once installed.
