Community notes: Backpack drive collected 700+ packs; Mount Healthy library outlines fall programs

Two community items featured during the Mount Healthy City Council meeting on Aug. 19.
Backpack drive: Sierra George, an event organizer, told council the Backpack to School of Peachtree event held the previous Saturday collected more than 700 backpacks and raised nearly $1,600 in cash donations. "We ended up collecting over 700 backpacks," George said, noting the event included live talent, youth haircuts, face painting and more than 20 volunteers. She said supplies remain available for families in need.
Library programs: Ria Jarawala, branch manager of the Mount Healthy Branch Library, reviewed regular and upcoming programming: weekly Movers and Shakers for ages 1–4 on Monday mornings, family story time on Thursday mornings, after-school snack time for kids, and tween/teen clubs including STEM and graphic-novel groups. Jarawala also said the library partners with the Hamilton County Conservation District for a September program on cover crops and raised beds, and that adult book clubs meet monthly.
Council members thanked organizers, noted strong volunteer participation and encouraged continued community outreach for school readiness and library services.
