The Prescott Board of Adjustment voted unanimously Thursday to approve CUP25-003, permitting a new art-focused retail business with a limited tattoo service at an existing commercial property on Sheldon Street.
Planner Tammy Duwick told the board the property, formerly a veterinary clinic, is already developed and has adequate parking for the proposed mixed retail and tattoo use. "There are no issues from a zoning standpoint for the business going in there," Duwick said, and added that staff notified property owners within 300 feet and received no public comments.
The applicant, Nathan Delgaitis, said the business — which he identified by the name "deadcreative" — will feature oddity-style decor and art for sale and that tattooing will be a smaller, secondary part of the enterprise. "It's gonna be decor and art," Delgaitis said. "The tattoo is kinda like a secondary business." He described a layout with a main showroom, a hallway, and two rooms to be used as tattoo rooms behind a break room, and said there are no proposed exterior building changes; new signage will be added later.
Board member Rick Kimmery moved to approve CUP25-003; the motion was seconded and carried on a 4-0 roll-call vote. The board recorded the approvals during the roll call and the chair declared the motion "passes."
Staff said the applicant will still need to obtain building and tenant-improvement permits and any required signage permits before opening. The board received no public comments on the application during the hearing.
The meeting concluded with brief staff updates and holiday greetings; the board adjourned and indicated its next likely meeting will be in February.
