Mayor Thompson presented plaques and invited both councilmembers to speak. Zorns reviewed her time on the council since 2018, including committee assignments and regional boards, and expressed gratitude to staff, family and community supporters. Mankie reflected on four years of service, described accomplishments such as strengthening public safety, stabilizing city finances, progress on city property disposition and planning for Buffalo Landing park, and said he is stepping down to prioritize family time. Colleagues offered tributes and the council recessed briefly for a reception in their honor.
The recognition was ceremonial; no formal policy action resulted from the remarks.
