Sunbury committee: wage ordinance unchanged; cybersecurity policy to return as January resolution

Members of the Sunbury City Finance Committee on Dec. 17 reviewed the wage-and-salary ordinance for 2026 and received an update on the city's cybersecurity work.
Dana told the committee there were no substantive updates to the wage-and-salary ordinance since the prior review; the ordinance appears on the packet (page 13) and was scheduled for its third reading at the council meeting later that night.
On cybersecurity, Dana said staff have been working with outside IT consultants and with a staff member identified as "Mister Bream" to draft a program and that the city would present a resolution for adoption in January 2026 to satisfy the auditor-of-state requirement. Committee members asked about the Jan. 1 deadline and whether approving the policy after that date would create compliance issues; staff said a retroactive filing might be necessary if the council adopted the resolution after Jan. 1, but that the city currently has controls in place.
No formal action was taken on either item in committee beyond discussion and confirmation that the ordinance remains on the council agenda. Dana said the cybersecurity resolution would be circulated when ready and that certain detailed elements of the policy would not be public for security reasons but would be filed with the state as required.
