Council members recorded unanimous support during the vote on the first reading.
Council members said there was no further discussion before the vote. The ordinance is now recorded as having passed first reading; additional readings and final adoption will follow the city’s standard ordinance schedule and public-notice requirements.
The action responds to changes at the state level; the first reading authorizes the city to update local regulations to remain consistent with state law.
