Lititz Borough Council voted Nov. 25 to adjust special-event application fees and adopt a revised ordinance governing parades and special events.
Resolution 1012 (ordinance reference C220) establishes a two-tier fee: $125 for Lititz-based nonprofit organizations and $1,000 for other applicants. Borough staff and the chief explained the distinction is intended to recognize the community reinvestment shown by local nonprofits while offsetting administrative and staffing costs for outside, for‑profit events.
Council also adopted Ordinance C620, which amends Chapter 82 (renamed “Parades and Special Events”) to clarify the approval process, modernize procedures, and establish ways to recoup borough staffing costs associated with events. Council discussed refund provisions for canceled events and the chief noted discretionary refunds for extraordinary circumstances.
Both the fee resolution and the ordinance were approved by voice votes at the meeting.
