Commission recommends allowing mobile food vending at Lake Ashton 2 amenity center

The Planning Commission on Dec. 1 voted to recommend a PUD amendment that would add mobile food vending as a permitted use on common-area parcels that include the amenity center at Lake Ashton 2.
Senior planner Heather Reuter told the commission the petitioner, Lake Ashton 2 Community Development District, seeks to allow mobile food vendors as part of community events held at the amenity center. Reuter said Section 21-98 of the Winter Haven Code regulates mobile food vending and that any vendors on the subject property would be subject to those existing provisions. Staff concluded the change would not constitute a significant amendment to the PUD because it applies to already-developed common areas and recommended forwarding the amendment to the city commission with the PUD conditions in the packet.
No members of the public spoke on the item. Commissioner motion and second to recommend approval carried by voice vote.
Next steps: the commission's recommendation will be forwarded to the Winter Haven City Commission for final action.
