Hudson, the student representative, asked trustees to amend Board policy 2430's procedures so students can form extracurricular clubs more easily. He said the current mechanism — a single review-board meeting each summer and an application Google form — leaves students waiting a full year if a proposal is denied and provides no clear criteria for applicants to address rejection reasons.
"Policy number 2430 dictates that the superintendent prepares a procedure to implement extracurricular programs," Hudson told the board, and he asked that approval criteria be posted on the application form and that the review board meet more than once annually. He offered to work with both the review board and the Board of Education to help implement changes.
Trustees thanked Hudson and asked administrators to add the topic to a list of items for follow-up. A trustee said the board would ask Mr. Cohen (policy chair) to report back after reviewing the proposal.
