Liberty Hill ISD previews attendance‑boundary options, schedules January town halls

Interim Superintendent Mr. Motel provided an update on long‑range planning and attendance boundaries as Liberty Hill ISD prepares to open new campuses in 2026 and 2027.

Motel said the district’s current enrollment is about 10,468 students and noted continued growth over the coming years. He reported that the district’s attendance‑boundary advisory committee has met twice and summarized a stakeholder survey that generated a little over 2,000 responses. "We started off with asking one question which was, should we focus more on balanced numbers or keeping students together when it comes to feeder patterns? And close to 60% was saying balanced numbers," Motel said.

Staff outlined two middle‑school feeder options: a true elementary‑feeder pattern and an option using Ronald Reagan as a split line between middle schools. Both options showed similar capacity projections, with no middle‑school overcapacity until about 2030–31 under either scenario. The presentation identified neighborhood specifics—Tierra Rosa (overcapacity and closed to new enrollments as of Sept. 1), Oaks of San Gabriel (distance and travel concerns), and bus routing congestion along Highway 29—as inputs for refinement.

The district will host two community town halls to share options and gather feedback: Jan. 13 at Liberty Hill Middle School and Jan. 15 at Legacy Ranch High School. Motel said staff will use survey results, demographic projections and long‑range planning subcommittee input to narrow options before bringing recommendations back to the board.

Board members thanked staff for transparency and community engagement and encouraged continued outreach prior to formal boundary decisions.

Next steps: staff will present boundary scenarios at the January town halls and refine recommendations for future board consideration.
