EPR Commission Signs Off on Final Recommendations, Will Deliver Report to Legislature and Dissolve

The Massachusetts Extended Producer Responsibility Commission voted Dec. 9 to deliver its final recommendations and background documentation to the Legislature and to dissolve 30 days after issuing the final report.
Members approved language allowing minor clarifying edits and updates to vote tallies and recommendation language for the Dec. 9 meeting package. Commissioners agreed the report will include links to public comments and an appendix that collects commissioner edits and differing viewpoints. The chair confirmed the filing deadline as Jan. 15 and said the commission will keep the public comment portal open until the report is posted; once posted, new items will be appended to the linked public-comment repository.
The commission took a separate voice vote to set dissolution: after issuance of the final report, the commission will dissolve 30 days later. Commissioners thanked staff and one another for the work and noted that, while members did not always agree, deliberations were respectful.
What happens next: the final recommendations and background materials — including public comments and commissioner input — will be transmitted to the Legislature on the agreed filing date; the commission’s administrative closure is scheduled to follow 30 days after that transmission.
