Seven Hills honors outgoing Councilman Norm Martin at final meeting

The Seven Hills City Council took time Nov. 25 to recognize outgoing Ward 2 Councilman Norm Martin, with the mayor and multiple councilmembers praising his years of service and leadership.

Mayor Biasellata called Martin’s final meeting "a privilege to take a moment to honor his dedication, his leadership, and his unwavering commitment to the people of the city," and credited Martin as "the driving force" behind the council’s new drone ordinance, saying "we passed that tonight, and it shows how the city changes with the times." Colleagues described Martin as a steady voice for fiscal responsibility and collaboration; several members cited his mentorship and deep knowledge of municipal law and finance.

Martin delivered a prepared farewell in which he emphasized change and the importance of municipal financial health. Summarizing four decades of work and his time on council he said municipal leaders must "prepare yourselves to adjust for the changing macro environment" and warned that "community financial health is the foundation for community strength and sustainability." He said monitoring city finances "is the fundamental purpose of council under this charter." Martin closed by thanking colleagues, staff and residents for the opportunity to serve.
