At its Dec. 8 meeting, the Burlington Community School District board approved a consent agenda that included previously paid bills totaling $353,514.46, unpaid bills of $449,200.29 and gifts of $978.50.
A board member moved to approve the consent agenda; the motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote. The board then clarified that graduation fireworks and similar graduation-night expenses paid through the J & M agreement are charged to student-council activity funds rather than the district general fund, and the board approved the J & M agreement.
The board also considered a batch of policy revisions (identified in the meeting by internal codes) and approved the second reading of those policies after a brief question about registration/medication forms sent home by the district nurse. The board asked staff to follow up with the nurse to clarify why some families received additional forms.
For governance representation, the board nominated and appointed Will Vance as the district's Des Moines County Conference representative; Will Vance accepted and the motion passed.
