Michigan City parks board approves multiple budget transfers, donations and routine renewals

Resolutions 1082 through 1084 authorized internal transfers to cover unanticipated zoo expenses, reallocated endowment funds for zoo contractual needs, and adjusted golf fund line items; the board read the transfers on the record and approved each resolution by voice vote.
The board also approved the claims docket (municipal funds $73,878.36) and accepted donations including a $1,000 contribution from the La Porte County Visitors Bureau and a $65 zoo donation from Sandra Starling. Minor budget adjustments — including vacation buyback, seasonal wages and electric line changes across multiple funds — were approved as part of standard transfers.
In procurement and contracting, the board renewed the Patriot Park concession operator (Third Degree Burn, owner Joe Garg) for a final year and agreed to award the Wings and Wonder contract (separate article). Earlier, the board took Kemp’s copy machine agreement off the table, approved it with attorney‑recommended edits, and authorized Miss Eason to sign the corrected agreement on behalf of the board.
