Members of the Davenport City Housing Commission tentatively scheduled their January and February meetings and heard from staff about upcoming annual plan and administrative policy updates that will require commission approval.
A housing department staff member said the annual plan is coming up and that the department has made changes to administrative policy covering criminal background checks, adding additional household members and eligibility. "We've been working on some of the updates, criminal background checks, adding additional household members, eligibility," the staff member said, and added they would send a table showing current policy and the proposed new policy ahead of the meeting so commissioners could review.
Commission members discussed timing: one member noted that in January the third Monday falls on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and asked whether an alternative date or the Monday after would work. Several members favored a 3:30 p.m. start. "03:30 is better than 4," one commission member said.
Staff said they would tentatively set meetings for Jan. 26 and Feb. 23 at 3:30 p.m., send reminders and notify communications about the schedule. The staff member said materials related to the annual plan and administrative policy updates would be distributed in advance so commissioners could review the proposed changes before the February meeting when approval is expected to be sought.
The meeting closed with a motion to adjourn and an affirmative vote.
Next steps: staff will distribute the policy comparison table and the annual plan materials ahead of the February meeting for commissioners' review and possible action.
