The Wausau Board of Public Works met Tuesday, Dec. 16, and approved routine minutes and multiple contract actions, including awarding a demolition contract and approving payments to contractors.
Speaker 2 moved to approve minutes from Dec. 3 and Dec. 9; Speaker 1 seconded and the board voted in favor.
The board received and recorded six bids for the 25 water treatment plant demolition. Speaker 1 read the bids into the record and moved to award the work to MRD Group for $947,000. "MRD Group in the amount of $947,000," Speaker 1 said when reading the bids. Speaker 2 seconded the motion and members voted aye.
The board opened proposals for towing services and noted submissions will be forwarded to the finance department for review. Speaker 1 said Lightning Express Towing submitted three separate packets and another proposal was from Joe Raider; no award was made and the matter will return to finance.
The board approved final payments and estimates for several Department of Public Works projects. Speaker 1 presented American Asphalt's final payment request of $24,890.30 for the 2025 asphalt paving project A; Speaker 1 moved to approve and Speaker 2 seconded. The motion passed with aye votes.
Speaker 1 then presented a final payment to Central Door Solutions for overhead-door replacement in the amount of $24,252. The board approved the payment after a motion and second.
Finally, the board approved pay estimate No. 20 with Community Infrastructure Partners for replacement of lead service lines for work performed in November, totaling $245,662.42. "Total is $245,662.42," Speaker 1 stated when presenting the estimate. The motion to approve was seconded and carried.
A motion to adjourn was made, seconded and approved.
The meeting record shows the board took multiple procurement and payment actions; the opened towing proposals were referred to finance for further review and no procurement decision on towing was made at this meeting.
