During the regular meeting the commission approved several municipal orders that promoted and appointed city employees across departments.
Actions approved included promotion of Sean Hamilton to fire captain and Dustin Blair to engineer, an appointment to inspection support specialist, promotion to property custodian in the police department, transfer of an employee to a heavy equipment operator role in Parks & Recreation, a probationary appointment to communications dispatcher supervisor, and the appointment of a new firefighter following a competitive selection process. HR managers and department chiefs presented background on candidates and recruitment processes; some presenters noted the number of applicants and steps taken in interviews.
Later in the meeting the commission moved into closed session under KRS 61.810(1)(f) for discussion that could lead to appointment, discipline or dismissal of an individual. After returning to open session the commission added Municipal Order 2025-291 and voted to approve termination of Catherine McKee from the Fire Department; the motion was approved by roll call.
