Collingswood board approves budget transfers, minutes, policy readings and HIV report

The Collingswood Board of Education voted unanimously to approve several routine business items at its regular meeting.
In roll-call votes the board approved minutes from the Oct. 28, 2025 meeting, the finance items listed as 10.01–10.06 (including monthly budget transfers, certifications of no over-expenditure, secretary/treasury reports, and purchase orders/warrants), and the monthly HIV report. Motions were made, seconded and passed by recorded voice and roll-call votes during the meeting.
Business administrator and board secretary Missus Coleman summarized the financial materials on the agenda and told members she expects to present the district audit for acceptance at the December meeting once required data from Trenton is received. “It’s been done for a while… we always have to wait for data from Trenton,” she said.
During the meeting the board also advanced several policy readings. Policy 24-22 (statutory curricular requirements) was approved for first reading with the expectation the policy will be edited to reflect the district’s K–5 scope before a second reading. Policies 51-17 (interdistrict public school choice) and 53-39.01 (student sun protection) proceeded as second reads; the regulation implementing 51-17 was put on for first reading. Board members said they will look for local edits to remove sections that do not apply to a K–5 district.
The board moved into and out of a Committee of the Whole as part of the agenda and approved curriculum committee recommendations, including an out-of-district placement for a first-grade student (item 11.01) for 2–8 weeks in a ‘castle program’ at Virtua with district-provided transportation beginning Nov. 19 and two hours of home instruction daily. The board also authorized submission of a preschool plan (item 11.02) to the New Jersey Department of Education and acknowledged there were no travel expenses (item 11.03).
The meeting closed after a second public-comment period. The board will hold a round-table discussion on the school budget Thursday the 20th at 6:30 p.m., the board announced.
