Space Center Intermediate pilot expands: Clear Creek plans to add three intermediates to a —Stream of Innovation' model

Clear Creek ISD trustees were shown a status update on the Stream of Innovation pilot at Space Center Intermediate and a plan to scale the model to three additional intermediate campuses.
Presenters described core projects for grades 6–8 tied to social studies and science, a library makerspace with lessons integrated to core content, Cardinal Clubs to support student engagement and CTE electives (robotics, coding and principles of engineering). Dr. McKay and staff said Space Center's pilot materials and lesson plans will be rolled out across 10 intermediate campuses over time.
The board was told that Clear Creek Intermediate will focus on the arts, Clear Lake Intermediate on creative fine‑arts strategies and Victory Lakes Intermediate on medical science; the district is pursuing partnerships with local institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts and the Lone Star Flight Museum to support programming and field experiences.
Dr. McKay noted strong teacher and principal buy‑in at the pilot campus and said a survey of potentially interested high school students returned unanimous interest in a proposed Engineering Beyond Earth practicum course ("A 100%, they all want the curriculum," presenters said of a 60‑student survey). Staff cautioned that scheduling and student timetable constraints could affect participation and said they will meet individually with students to assess feasibility.
What's next: the district said it will present three new CTE elective course approvals to the board in an upcoming meeting and will bring a final implementation plan for the three intermediates in spring.
