Clear Creek ISD reports modest gains on college/career readiness as it pushes research-based instruction and PLCs

Clear Creek ISD officials on Dec. 8 told trustees they are advancing a districtwide push on research‑based instructional strategies, professional learning communities and targeted interventions as part of Goal 2.
District staff said implementation of TEA‑aligned research‑based instructional strategies began two years ago with grant support and now includes district learning walks, a common formative/summative assessment cadence and school‑level needs assessments. "We started this work two years ago," a presenter said, describing calibration of classroom practice and district tools meant to raise instructional fidelity.
Officials reported progress on college, career and military readiness. The presentation noted that 37% of seniors met CCMR through the TSI benchmark at the end of last year and that the figure is 44% now; overall CCMR was reported at 60% last November and 64% year to date. Staff described a range of interventions — RTI time, Saturday SAT prep, classroom warm‑ups aligned to ACT/SAT/TSI items and targeted campus supports — aimed at continuing that growth.
The board also heard about the district's data work: nine‑week common planning windows, greater rigor in interim assessments to align with STAR/STAAR expectations, and teacher teams designing lessons to address identified gaps. Angela Hingleman, director of professional learning, outlined PLC survey results and an instructional coach feedback system that district leaders said will support annual metrics.
Trustees asked for more detail about which campuses receive targeted support; staff said five elementary and four intermediate campuses currently have prioritized interventions, but principals and other campuses can request additional support. The district said it will share campus lists and follow up with trustees on usage and outcomes.
What's next: staff said they will continue to yield interim data to the board and provide a fuller snapshot of assessment and coaching impacts in the months ahead, with additional reports expected in January and as STAR/STAAR alignment work continues.
