La Grange Park approves three Hancock Engineering contracts for parking, Brainerd and storage-area projects

The board approved three engineering services agreements with Hancock Engineering on Dec. 13 to prepare design and engineering work for forthcoming public improvement projects.
The agreements are: 1) Newberry Beach parking lot improvements, design engineering not to exceed $52,500; staff said the intent is to have shelf-ready plans by June 2026 and that the Business Development District and TIF would split the cost. 2) Brainerd Avenue preliminary and design engineering for approximately $97,000 (the figure was cited as $97,000 in the project description and later referenced as $97,500 in a motion read), necessary because federal STP funds do not cover engineering costs; the project is scheduled for construction in 2027. 3) Public Works Southeast storage-area design engineering not to exceed $15,170; construction funding is expected to come from an Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) grant but the grant does not cover engineering expenses.
Trustee Sheehan and trustees voiced support for Hancock, praising past service. Each motion was moved, seconded and approved by roll call with unanimous yes votes.
Staff will use motor fuel tax funds and other identified budgets to pay engineering fees as described in the agenda memo. Trustees asked for and received a brief clarification from the superintendent on the physical extent of the southeast storage-area project.
