The City Council on Nov. 25 presented a proclamation honoring Finance Director Ron Hedberg as he prepares to retire. City Administrator Tom and councilmembers praised Hedberg’s 16½ years with Apple Valley and about 39 years in municipal finance overall.
Tom noted Hedberg’s role in achieving the Government Finance Officers Association’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting and the city’s AAA bond ratings from Moody’s and Standard & Poor’s. The proclamation cites Hedberg’s leadership in developing budgets and capital plans totaling more than $1.22 billion during his tenure and recognized his service to professional organizations and as a mentor to new finance officers.
The council unanimously approved the proclamation and presented Hedberg with a commemorative gift. Hedberg thanked the council, staff and his family and reflected on the collaborative environment in Apple Valley and the importance of mentorship in the profession.
