HAMPDEN, Mass. ' The Select Board on Dec. 8 approved routine administrative items including building-use requests and annual licenses.
The board voted to allow a local arts group to use the cafetorium for rehearsals and a multi-day play in March, conditioned on a security deposit, proof of insurance and either a guest fob system or custodial coverage for evening rehearsals. Town staff said they would meet with the group's principal to set fob access and custodial overlap.
On licensing, the board approved a renewal request from the Veterans of Foreign Wars to operate a jukebox and renewed 2026 liquor licenses and common victualler licenses for several businesses, following inspection reports and police sign-offs. The board noted one liquor application remains under review by the state Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission and will be processed under the prior owner's listing until ABCC completes its review.
Other routine matters included a discussion of polling location rules and bylaw language that the town may address before the annual town meeting.
