Johnston County schedules Jan. 20 public hearing on proposed Unified Development Ordinance

Planning staff asked the board to schedule a required public hearing on a proposed Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) text amendment. Staff said the formal presentation to the Planning Board will occur the next evening at the Johnston County AgCenter Auditorium and that the public hearing in front of the board is set for Jan. 20 at 6 p.m., which the board approved by motion and voice vote.
Staff emphasized that state statute and local ordinance require a public hearing for text amendments and that the UDO is a comprehensive document that may be taken up for adoption at a subsequent meeting after public comment and board consideration. The board scheduled the hearing and will hear public comment as part of the text‑amendment process.
