Emily, a city staff planner, told the commission the proposed bylaw changes included clerical edits and a recommendation to set historic-zoning meetings at 4:00 p.m. to align with the Design Review Committee. Commissioner Speaker 3 moved to approve the bylaws but offered an amendment to keep meetings at 5:00 p.m., saying a 5:00 start better serves working residents and reflects decades of practice. Speaker 5 seconded the amendment. On a voice vote the amendment passed and the commission then approved the bylaws as amended.
Chair remarks and subsequent votes also adopted the commission's next-year meeting and application-deadline calendar with the 5:00 p.m. meeting time included. The calendar was adopted unanimously.
The commission's decision means the Historic Zoning Commission will continue holding regular meetings at 5:00 p.m.; staff will update published materials to reflect the approved bylaws and calendar before release.
